May 2024 Newsletter

We give thanks and glory to God for calling us, to take a part in the great work He’s doing in the world, fulfilling His will as we pray with hope with our faith centered on Him. By collaborating with partners like you, each bringing various gifts to the Lord’s ministry in Cambodia, we can testify to you that we can witness His grace abundantly overflowing in this nation.

* Prayer Requests from HIS Child, NGO

1. Due to the Cambodian government's strong measures to forcibly isolate homeless people addicted to drugs from society, their children are left on the streets and are in desperate need of help. Several organizations are temporarily providing them with essential supplies, and HIS workers are meeting with the children weekly. May the work of HIS encourage them well and share the love of Jesus.

2. By the grace of God, may the children live in safe spaces, receive public education, and grow up as children should. Please pray for more sponsors who would become parents for these children by supporting a child with a monthly food expense of just thirty thousand won.

* Prayer Requests from HIS Church

1. We are grateful that the children attending the Kids Club every Saturday afternoon are joyfully participating in the gatherings and taking an interest in Bible stories and scripture memorization. Please pray that God would grant wisdom to missionaries Sopeaup and Kim Chunhwa, who care for these children. May the children be able to attend Sunday school worship at church and experience the grace of growing as the Lord’s children.

2. We are preparing to serve with a medical team from Singapore for the members of Doulos Churches in the villages of Toulsunpi, Kambongtrea, and Takhmao. Please open opportunities for evangelism through the medical service, and let the residents actively participate in Bible study and join together in worship.

* Prayer Requests from HIS School

1. We hope to establish a school that provides a safe environment, good education, and that teaches the Word of God to raise people who would change the world. May the parents respect the teachers who care for and teach their children, and may the teachers cherish and love the students entrusted to them, building mutual trust. Let the school and parents become partners with one heart, so that the school may grow in accordance with God’s heart.

2. The average age of the population in Cambodia is 27 years, resulting in a high percentage of young parents. These parents have a keen interest in and diverse demands for their children's education. May the students grow up fearing God through the Christian education curriculum from an early age and become wise children who could impact the world with God’s values.

HIS International Volunteer Corps believes that all children, created in the image of God, are precious and valuable regardless of their background, religion, gender, or disability. We believe that these children can change society and become valuable members for the expansion of the Lord's kingdom. To share God's love with Cambodian children, a team of 9 missionaries and 30 local workers are currently serving together. We are experiencing difficulties due to a shortage of workers. Please pray for the sending of both long-term and short-term missionaries and volunteers.
