October 2021 Newsletter

Despite the increasing number of people getting vaccinated, with the fast spreading of the delta virus, we sometimes feel discouraged as it seems like God does not care about our nation. However, we trust in our God who watches every minute of our lives and sends his helping hands at the right timing and pray that this same God would bless you and take care of you wherever you may be.

In October, there is a great Cambodian holiday called Pchum Ben. It is a unique holiday in which everyone goes back to their hometowns to be with friends and family and pray for blessings from their ancestors at the temple. However, as the spread of Coronavirus is getting worse and worse, the government has prohibited all gatherings and festivals and has put a ban on any travelling between regions.

Also, all gatherings, especially religious activities, have been banned due to a recent case of virus infections among monks inside a temple. However, with increasing dissatisfaction from not being able to visit their hometown this year as well as last year, people are starting to ignore the ban and making their visits regardless.

Moreover, we are seeing more and more people worshipping all kinds of gods and idols on the streets as a way to relieve their fears and anxiety. The government, which has failed in quarantine, is concerned that the spread of coronavirus would be out of control after the holiday and is preparing the fourth vaccine, the second dose for adolescents, and the child vaccination.

Prayer Requests:

▶ Please pray for

- the missionaries who had to witness the death of their children due to coronavirus,

- for the bereaved families of the missionaries who passed away with high fever without receiving proper treatment in the countryside,

- for missionaries who were able to go back to their home country for treatment but are struggling with various complications that have come with the virus,

- And for those who are struggling at the crossroads of life and death due to the virus because they cannot be urgently transported by air ambulance due to various circumstances.

▶ Please pray that even with the severe economic crisis with the prolonged Covid19 situation, the church members would not be deceived by vain things and rely more on God the Father of salvation.

▶ Please pray for those who cannot join the online worship for various reasons to keep on trusting God of hope through Bible reading, scripture writing, and prayer in their respective places to overcome their difficult circumstances.

▶ Please pray for God’s comfort for the members especially in the rural area who are isolated and unable to meet anyone during the holiday.

▶ Please pray for God’s provision of daily necessities for the members who are struggling with financial crisis.

▶ Please pray for God’s wisdom and strength to be with the leaders of Doulos church, evangelist Prao, and minister Seo Eun Om, as they continue to make telephone visits and carry out their entrusted ministries.

▶ Please pray for the health and safety of all of us so that we can continue to carry out various ministries, sharing the good news to the people of Cambodia.
