February 2022 Newsletter
Greetings from HIS, Cambodia! It is our prayer that your life would be filled with the perfect love of God that brings strength and restoration in whatever circumstances you may be in.
Aside from wearing a mask, Cambodia, which seems to have returned to normal days, is in the process of receiving the 4th dose of the vaccine, and it is said that the 5th dose would be supplied soon. All children and staff of HIS have been vaccinated every 3 months since May of last year, and all have completed well up to the 4th dose without any side effects.
1. The Mobile Resting Place
Although not as accessible as it used to be, the Mobile Resting Place team is preparing to meet the underprivileged and the homeless in slum areas. The situation in poor rural areas, where basic livelihoods have been disrupted due to Covid19, is hardly recovering, so requests for help from the government’s Ministry of Social Welfare are flooding in. We are praying for the Lord’s provision to deliver food, daily necessities, clothing, and medicine to families in need. We thank the churches and organizations that have been channels for love, and pray that we would continue to learn the compassionate heart of the Father in a deeper way.
2. The Children’s Center
- Children who need urgent rescue are moving into the children’s center. Since only those who have been vaccinated could join the center, so far, we received 5 children (Mottie Mote - 7, male; Pael Ya Pum - 6, male; Yu Hinlonghim - 12, male; Nieng Menghuer - 8, male; Niong Mitmul - 7, female). We pray that these children would adjust well to their new environment.
- Children who grew up well and became middle school students at the center are being forced to return to their hometowns regardless of their will, so we have requested mediation from the Cambodian Ministry of Child Welfare. Relatives who have never visited the children suddenly appear at the center as the children grow up and force them to return to their hometowns to work in factories. We are advisingthem to wait until at least the children finish high school for better career options, but the relatives find it better to take their children to work from a young age to help with their living conditions, thus these children’s education is being interrupted.
- Please pray for Po-wan (female), who returned to her hometown after dropping out of middle school, that God would be with her during this harsh situation and that she would not lose hope through the love the heavenly Father that is watching over her.
3. Esther / Daniel Home
- Thatt passed the high school graduation exam and is preparing for college. He’s currently working as an assistant teacher to save some funds to purchase a motorcycle for commuting to his university and is also praying for the provision of his school tuition.
- Shokni (female) and Piset (male), who came to the city from the countryside, with the desire to go to university are on the waiting list. Please keep them in your prayers.
- Tamtam took the national exam three times, but ended up only completing high school. She left the Esther Home and is adapting as a member of society. Please pray for her that God would provide her with good friends.
We are grateful that HISCHILD and NGO were able to carry out relief missions to children in need from 1995 to the present and we give all the glory to our faithful God. Every three years, the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Social Welfare must apply for an extension of the NGO. Please pray that all the paperwork for reissuance, evaluation from the Cambodian government, and visitation of the team would proceed smoothly in early March.
